Xiaoxuan (Elsie) Li received her BA in Chinese Language and Literature from Central China Normal University (CCNU) in Wuhan, and received her MA in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages at the graduate school of CCNU. She taught Chinese language classes to both high school and elementary school students at Confucius Institute at University of Kansas (CIKU) during 2010-2013. She also served as the lead teacher in the summer STRATALK programs in 2011, 2012 and 2013. After she went back to China, she worked at Beijing Language and Culture University, focusing on teaching resource development and developing the curriculum for Chinese language volunteers/teachers in the pre-service training programs. She has gained lots of experiences in curriculum development and the assessments design for the students at different language proficiency levels.
