Native from Lleida, Spain, Mariona Esquerda Ciutat has a strong STEM background as she completed her Bachelor’s degree in physics and her Master’s degree in geophysics at the University of Barcelona. Additionally, Ms. Ciutat earned an additional Master’s degree in Teaching at the University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. Her Master’s thesis focused on students’ perception of “difficulty” in classroom exercises and activities. Since then, Ms. Ciutat has been working as an educator in both high schools and college. Additionally, her 11 years of experience as an instructor at the music summer camp “Les Cantarelles d’Estiu” has shaped her into an enthusiastic, creative, and student-focused educator. Ms. Ciutat combines these experiences into the interdisciplinary pedagogy that is the hallmark of the PRISMS experience.
