Nanoday@Penn 2022 - PRISMS Presentations

From Oct 10 to 14, more than 60 PRISMS students watched the virtual and in-person NanoDay presentations given by researchers from the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University. Organized by the Singh Center of Nanotechnology at the University of Pennsylvania, the NanoDay@Penn is an annual event for middle and high school students in the local community to help raise awareness of nanotechnology, how it is currently used in products that enrich our daily lives, and the challenges and opportunities it holds for the future.

Students from AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP Environmental Science, Organic Chemistry, Chemistry Research, Physics Research, and Environment & Sustainability Research Labs at PRISMS participated in the presentations listed below. They actively participated, asked great questions, and even posed possible solutions. There was a lot of energy here during the week when the series of presentations were taking place, especially during the in-person presentation and demonstration given by Ms. Marley Downes and Ms. Jamie Banks from Prof. Yuri Gogotsi’s Lab at Drexel University. Students were amazed by the remarkably cool properties of MXenes, and excited to take part in the demonstrations, observing the MXene thin film, measuring the weight, and testing its conductivity.





These presentations were coordinated by PRISMS faculty, Dr. Steven Chen, Dr. Weijing Wang, and Dr. Randy Weintraub.
