A team of fifteen students from PRISMS competed in the 2nd annual Cornell Science Olympiad Invitational on February 6th. The PRISMS Science Olympiad team was ranked in the top six in six events among twenty-two teams from sixteen high schools nationwide. The following is a summary of the team’s achievements.
Lily (Hanwen Zhang) and Joshua (Jiaqi Huang): 4th place in Cell Biology
Mary (Yutong Dai) and Tommy (Shuangzhe Lin): 3rd place in Chemistry Lab
Amy (Ruoqian Xiong) and Joshua (Jiaqi Huang): 6th place in Disease Detectives
Frederic (Fei Peng) and Billy (Zhengwei Wu): 4th place in Hydrogeology
Misha (Mikhail Shiltsev) and Anirudh Kumar: 1st place in Optics
Owen Ford and Mary (Yutong Dai): 3rd place in Remote Sensing
Savvas Papadopoulos, the events director of Cornel Science Olympiad, was impressed by the team’s surprisingly good performance since the team is new to the world of Science Olympiad. The members of PRISMS’s Science Olympiad team are Mary (Yutong Dai), Amy (Ruoqian Xiong), Lily (Hanwen Zhang), Paulina Kulyavtsev, Owen Ford, Frank (Kunpeng Huang), Nick (Ziqi Han), Joshua (Jiaqi Huang), Frederic (Fei Peng), Andy (Zehao Zhao), Billy (Zhengwei Wu), Tommy (Shuangzhe Lin), Misha (Mikhail Shiltsev), Johan Kramer, and Anirudh Kumar.
