On February 14, 2026, PRISMS hosted the 2nd PRISMS Science+ Bowl on campus, bringing together middle school teams, coaches, families, and volunteers for an exciting day of science competition, fun activities, and learning.
This year, 16 teams from across New Jersey participated in the event. Building on the success of last year's inaugural tournament, this event featured almost twice as many teams, some of which were new to the competition. They were able to enjoy full-day sessions and compete through the afternoon.
Topics of this event encompass physical science, life science, earth science, computer science/engineering, and mathematics, with questions that feature and showcase the research projects of PRISMS students. Meanwhile, coaches and families enjoyed opportunities to spectate the sessions and connect during passing time and lunchtime. In addition to the competition itself, the program included a coach panel discussion moderated by Ms. Laura Celik of Princeton Charter School, engaging STEM activities, and a campus tour for interested parents and guests.
“We appreciate our students' huge contribution to this event. They wrote problems, served as readers and score-keepers on the day, and worked behind the scenes to ensure the smoothness of this event,” said Dr. Steven Chen, Deputy Principal and Science Bowl Coach at PRISMS.
We congratulate all teams on their outstanding preparation, teamwork, and sportsmanship. We are especially pleased to recognize this year's top finishers and award recipients, 1st-place team Livingston Heritage, 2nd-place Matawan Aberdeen, tied 3rd-place Princeton Charter Accipiters and Fieldstone Quantum Falcons, and the Best Spirit Award winner Montgomery Lower Middle School Brainstorm Buddies.
We are also thankful for the many responses we received from a post-event survey. “Question quality was excellent - age-appropriate but still challenging.” “This was our school's first-ever Science Bowl tournament, and the kids had an absolute blast. They're already asking when the next one is!”
