It is with immense pleasure that we highlight the remarkable accomplishment of Yeyin (Eva) Z (Class of 2026), a dedicated sophomore at our school, who has clinched gold at the prestigious European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI) in the summer of 2023.
The illustrious EGOI convened in Lund, Sweden in July 2023, drawing young women with a profound interest in computer science from 52 countries. Representing the United States, Eva upheld the honor with a resounding success, securing a gold medal in a competition brimming with prodigious talents.
Embarking on this journey with commendable performance at the USA Computing Olympiad (USACO) over the past school year, Eva continued to shine bright, earning a coveted position at an intensive training camp in early summer. It was here that she fortified her skills, leading to her representation of the United States as one of the four delegates at EGOI 2023.
In the global arena, Eva demonstrated exceptional aptitude, securing an impressive 9th place worldwide and rising as the leading contender from the US cohort.
Commenting on her experience, Eva conveyed her heartfelt gratitude and shared her enriching journey: "It is a great honor to represent Team USA at EGOI, which allowed me to meet amazing girls from all over the world. I witnessed confidence, openness, enthusiasm, and a shared love for computers in them. I am elated to win the gold medal and extend my sincerest thanks to my teachers, parents, and friends for their unwavering support and assistance."
We encourage faculty, students, and the extended community to join us in acknowledging Eva's outstanding achievement. It stands as a beacon of hard work, dedication, and passion, urging others to pursue excellence in their academic ventures.
